Sunshine Coast AIPP Accredited Professional Photographer

I am pleased to announce that now I am officially an Accredited Professional Photographer of the AIPP (The Australian Institute of Professional Photography). This professional recognition of my work is something that I have been looking to achieve for a while now.

To gain the accreditation the minimum requirements are to have completed a two year course in photographic studies from an approved training organisation, been practicing as a professional for at least two years and to have submitted a portfolio of work for assessment by an independent panel. The portfolio I submitted, after critique by the panel, has been awarded the required grade – hurray!

The AIPP have a code of ethics and minimum business requirements which I also have to meet. This is to ensure a level of integrity in the industry, setting standards as to how professional photographers run their businesses and deal with their clients. As part of my ongoing accreditation requirements I am also required each year to take part in the AIPP CPD (Continuous Professional Development) program which I can’t wait to be involved in. These programs are aimed at developing business skills, refining photographic and development techniques and inspire continual improvement in my photography.

Its going to be an exciting year…

But what does this mean to you, and why should you choose an accredited professional?

This excerpt is from the AIPP website and is a great explanation on why you should use a pro;

“An accredited professional combines a love and passion for their craft with a dedication to running their business in an ethical, and professional manner and a desire to give you the ultimate customer experience .

Trained, Educated and Skilled…

  • “Trained” because all Accredited professionals must have a minimum of 2 years experience with on the job training, or have completed a formal RTO approved photographic program before they can apply to become Accredited Members of the AIPP.
  • “Educated” because all Accredited professionals need to continue to continue their professional development by taking part in the AIPP CPD program.
  • “Skilled” because all Accredited professionals are encouraged to improve their skill through taking part in the AIPP awards programs, learning from their peers and increasing their craft and skill.

If you want to be sure you are using an AIPP accredited professional,
